Woodhouse Pinot
Woodhouse Pinot is a light and fruity red with lovely complexities and exceedingly moreish!
The demand for red wines in the UK is high, and we created this multi vintage wine to take advantage of those years that are very kind, providing heaps of ripe red fruit, as well as those years where it is a bit more of a struggle. Each year we will add to a perpetual reserve, much like the soleras system used for making sherry, whereby we partially remove wine from barrels each year for bottling, then top up those same barrels with wine from the current vintage. This not only blends the wine for a fairly consistent flavour profile, but is also gives the wine an opportunity to become more balanced as each vintage comes and goes. From tannins and acidity, to fruity notes and savoury notes. Bottled un-fined and un-filtered.
Enjoy at lunch or dinner with many different foods or all on it’s own. This delightful red wine may be a little too easy drinking!

Description
VINTAGE
The Woodhouse Pinot is light bodied red made up from our three Pinot grapes, Pinot Noir, Pinot Précoce and Pinot Meunier. Each of the grapes has their own little signature on this wine, adding flavours and structure in its own subtle way.

Producer
Six miles north of Rye, in the village of Beckley in the south east corner of East Sussex, Oxney Organic Estate has been producing award-winning organic wines since 2014. The first vines were planted in 2012 by founders Kristin Syltevik and Paul Dobson, who run Oxney as part of a wider organic farming estate. Today Oxney is the largest estate producer of organic English wines. Oxney wines are crafted as a showcase for the naturally high-quality grapes grown in the vineyard. In the winery – a converted Grade II oasthouse – interventions are kept to a minimum to promote full fruit expression.
Vineyard
Planted between 2012 and 2018, Oxney’s 14 hectares of vines are located on a warm, sheltered site six miles from the English Channel and 17 metres above sea level. Vines are planted on a gentle southwest-facing slope, which maximises sun exposure and aids ripening. An adjoining ancient oak forest provides natural wind protection, helping to create excellent conditions for growing high-quality organic grapes. Four varieties are planted – Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Seyval Blanc. The soil is Tunbridge Wells sand – a fine sand and silt loam – above clay bedrock.
