Description
VINTAGE
2019 was a typical English vintage, with a mix of sun and rain through the spring and summer. The glorious previous summer of 2018 left us with great buds in 2019, which flowered well and gave us good yields. Temperatures didn’t hit the highest of high notes yet it remained a great year for our sparkling wines.
WINEMAKING
For our Brut 2019, separate ferments for the varietals and many different clones provided us with a wonderful array of batches to choose from to create this exceptional classic blend. Consisting of approximately 66% Pinot Noir, 21% Pinot Meunier and 13% Chardonnay ,about 20% of the wine spent time in old barrel. After malolactic conversion, we bottled the wine for secondary fermentation which then spent over 3 years on the spent lees. The liqueur d’expedition or ‘dosage’ for this wine is quite special. We use a solera system for the liqueur which is a blend of different wines from barrels and includes a percentage of liqueur from the previous 2018 classic. First disgorgement date was 10 July 2023, and we could not be happier with the results!
TASTING NOTE
Perfectly balanced in flavours and bubbles this elegant and tasty sparkling offers up hints of apple, lemon, stone fruit, brioche fresh out the oven and honey. The persistent finish, like the bubbles, leave your tongue wanting more.

Producer
Six miles north of Rye, in the village of Beckley in the south east corner of East Sussex, Oxney Organic Estate has been producing award-winning organic wines since 2014. The first vines were planted in 2012 by founders Kristin Syltevik and Paul Dobson, who run Oxney as part of a wider organic farming estate. Today Oxney is the largest estate producer of organic English wines. Oxney wines are crafted as a showcase for the naturally high-quality grapes grown in the vineyard. In the winery – a converted Grade II oasthouse – interventions are kept to a minimum to promote full fruit expression.
Vineyard
Planted between 2012 and 2018, Oxney’s 14 hectares of vines are located on a warm, sheltered site six miles from the English Channel and 17 metres above sea level. Vines are planted on a gentle southwest-facing slope, which maximises sun exposure and aids ripening. An adjoining ancient oak forest provides natural wind protection, helping to create excellent conditions for growing high-quality organic grapes. Four varieties are planted – Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Seyval Blanc. The soil is Tunbridge Wells sand – a fine sand and silt loam – above clay bedrock.
